Bob, welcome home-ride report for hawley.
Seven on snowy, snotty, sunday, sick but not stupid ride.
There were 7 of us that showed up for the Hawley ride today in the snow. There was Gary Fentin (Jeeves), Jay Gump, Mega (sick but not stupid), Steve Power, Walters, Gary Cole and myself. We started out on the usual left after the beaver pond and got warmed up on this trail as it was only about 26-28 degrees and snowing and sleeting with a good coating when we arrived.

American Royalty Bob and MaryEllen; the first Duke and Duchess of Greenfield were on holiday in London and were met there by Prince Charles for a brief meeting. We were very humble in our meeting and the Prince was equally gracious.

Wendesday Night at the Plains 11/26 PDF Print E-mail

curt-small.jpgBetween the rain on Tuesday and the holiday on Thursday, there weren't any shop rides scheduled for this week but I wanted to get some kind of ride in.

I started talking to Michelle early in the day and we thought it would be good to explore the plains a bit. I posted the ride on the calendar but with such short notice didn't know how many people we could attract. When I pulled into Montague at 6:00, Michelle and Walters were already there and Mitch rolled in a few minutes later. By 6:15 we were heading for the trails.

Toys for Tots ride at Robinson State Park, 11/23 PDF Print E-mail

NEMBA Toys for Tots ride, Robinson State Park, 11/2008I don't think I'm the only one who has been meaning to get down to a ride at the Robinson State Park, but it just hasn't worked out... until this weekend. The 'Toys for Tots' ride gave me and several other shop riders a good incentive to finally make the trip. Honestly, I still might not have made it if Mark hadn't called me to offer a ride down from Greenfield, since the haul for me all the way down from Putney would have been just too much to do alone.

When I got up, it was only 14 degrees out, but by the time Mark, Gary and I pulled into the Robinson parking lot, it was in the mid-twenties. You wouldn't have known it from the way it felt, though. It may have been warming up, but the parking lot was in the open and a steady wind was making it feel like single digit temperatures. We all did as much ride prep as possible in our warm cars before we couldn't put it off any longer.

Thursday, 20 November 2008
curt-small.jpgWalters and I were talking earlier in the week and decided that we'd like to hit the trails behind his house instead of the Wendell ride that Bob had on the calendar. As the week went on, word our ride spread a bit and by Thursday night we had 9 riders ready to roll a few minutes after 6:00. In tonight's group were me (Curt), Walters, Michelle, Jamie, Dusty, Mark Newton, Gary Cole, Mike Levin and Stephanie.
