Charge Your Lighting System's Batteries
Every month, whether you use your lights or not, the batteries will lose about 10% of their charge. So it is important to keep those expensive units in tip top shape. Plug your batteries into the charger for a day or so and you will be ready for a summer or fall night ride. If we have some really hot days and it looks like we can;t ride I may post a mid summer night ride.

Vernon MTB Ride and Cookout
Ride Reports

Bob-MTB.jpgAfter the beating I took last night I was pretty sure that I was not going to be leading the charge for tonight’s MTB ride in Vernon Vermont. At 6:15 I arrived at Todd Amoto’s house and got my bike ready and waited for the rest of the riders to arrive. Joining me for the ride tonight was Curt, Adam, Mark Newton, Todd, Eric Potter, Matt Sullivan, and two of Eric’s friends whose names I forgot. We headed out of Todd’s Driveway and by the time we got 500 yards down Pond Road I was 500 yards behind Mark and Todd.

Bob Fizzles on Frizzle Hill 7-21
Ride Reports

bicycle bob.jpg

It was a warm and humid afternoon when the group arrived to do our ride to Frizzle Hill. I was able to get my gear and somewhat worn out body out the door at 6:00 to lead the 20 riders over to Turners Falls. I rode across the canal bridge and headed up Third Street where I caught the green light at Ave A. I was really hoping that the light was going to change and half the group would get caught out, so then I would soft pedal up the hill on Third Street. No luck there, everyone made it across!

A Soggy Beginner Ride
Ride Reports

It was a pretty nice day today and at 6:00 it was still sunny out so I decided to do the beginner ride even though some weather people said we might get a storm. At ride time we had a group of 9 (no Dave) and we headed off to ride through the neighborhood to avoid the construction on Silver Street.

A Shutesbury Blowout 7-15
Ride Reports

bicycle bob.jpg

After a rather hectic day I was thinking about bailing on the ride. I have been pretty tired and with my fitness level of late I was not looking to hammer up the hill to Shutesbury. At 5:30 Roger took a group of 6 riders to do the Wendell Ride and at 6:00 I was ready to roll with 22 riders. I rode out of the parking lot and over to Turners Falls where I took the group over to Seventh Street and headed for the back of the group. I followed the bunch up the hill at 8 mph and although I was going slower than usual I was still feeling a little challenged. At the top of the hill I just got behind Curt and let a group ride on ahead.r you

A Rainy Night In The Valley
Ride Reports

bicycle bob.jpg

It was a cloudy and very humid afternoon and I was not thinking that we would get our ride in after looking at the weather radar. The radar indicated that there was a large band of rain heading for us and would arrive at 6:00 or so. At 5:00 Roger was at the shop and he decided that he was going to ride anyway and was about to leave when Bonnie and Joe showed up. The three of them then left at 5:30 and I went back to work. Soon after they left Mark Newton, Jim Hayssen, Silko, Kenny, Billy Boy, Ceil, and Walters arrived for the 6:00 ride.

A perfect night at Wendell
Ride Reports

knoepfchen.jpgWhat a perfect ride! Tonight's group consisted of Tyler, Callie, Behn, Mitch, Bill Gabriel, Zak, newby James and myself. A welcome breeze made for perfect warm, but not hot riding weather, humidity was fairly low and there were barely any bugs out. We left headquarters around 6:15, rode until 8:30 and had a blast touring Wendell!
