Charge Your Lighting System's Batteries
Every month, whether you use your lights or not, the batteries will lose about 10% of their charge. So it is important to keep those expensive units in tip top shape. Plug your batteries into the charger for a day or so and you will be ready for a summer or fall night ride. If we have some really hot days and it looks like we can;t ride I may post a mid summer night ride.

After getting rained out on Thursday I decided to do a ride on Friday night so I posted a 6:00 ride from the shop. As ride time approached I was beginning to think that I was going to do a solo trip but Mike Levin, Bonnie Losick, Mark Newton and Patrick showed up. After a brief discussion Bonnie decided to go with Patrick to do a shorter loop. That left me, Mark and Mike for the trip down the valley.

It was a sunny, crisp day today with light winds and no humidity so I planned on doing our ride to Guilford at 6:00. I was busy at the shop but I was able to get ready early and the ride left the shop on time. I led the group of 16 riders from the parking lot and we took the back streets over to Silver Street to avoid the construction at High and Federal Streets.

Subject: "Ride went well"

Stef - I don't know what you said in that extra email yesterday, but I pulled up to the notch to a sea of spandex. Earlier I was thinking "I hope at least two or three people show." There were 16 people. I got waivers for them that Chris gave me. I was there, Mitch, Callie, Bill, Ted (?), JJ, Tom, Kristen, Tyler and DJ, Matt Green, Tim, Ed, and Chris Koh. I'd give you a summary of our route but I don't know the names of any trails. We went up, then down, then turned, then up then down... for about an hour and ten minutes. It was really an intermediate ride and since I know the trails there I was able to keep up a pretty fast pace. No wrecks, everyone got back, no one got lost. I didn't know most of the people there but they all seemed interested in attending more rides. I gave them the BU website and told them they all needed to come weekly.
I'm off to get married - will be back in 3 weeks!

Been a lot of talk lately about Mr. Newton being a nice guy and all, well last night he put that opinion to rest.  I pulled into the Schwab Lot on the verge of lateness due to trying to finish mowing the lawn, and Mark advised me and the kid of the route for the night :(  Joining us in the pain for the night were Ed, Matt B, Mitch and _____ someone?

Tuesday, 01 June 2010
You'd think with the 'State of Emergency' level storm that we'd have to cancel our planned NEMBA tour of the Greenfield and Deerfield Ridges. But thanks to the timely and tireless help of Harold Hammerhead Green and Steffi-the ridges, all things considered were in great shape for Saturday Morning's ride. And so, 13 game riders met at Bicycles Unlimited ready to ride.

After collecting Mitch and Gary Marsden across town, we arrived on School St in Northfield just after 6pm to find Ed Hofmeister and Bill Gabriel waiting for us. We were soon joined by Mark Newton Kiss (there you go Liam) who already did a warm-up ride, Zak and Corey Sutton and left the parking area around 6:25. It was warm and buggy but we all had a good ride and throughly enjoyed the revived Northfield trails.
